SUSILO BAMBANG YUDHOYONO, The Genuine Democrat

With straight and dignified posture, polite and well mannered with sharp eye sight, that is the profile of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY). Born in Pacitan on 9 September 1949 to R. Soekotjo and Siti Habibah. Now SBY has come forward as one of the Indonesian presidential candidate, with running mate Muhammad Jusuf Kalla, for the term 2004-2009.

A Happy Family

SBY comes from a simple and religious home. His father, R. Soekotjo, is an armed forces officer “TNI", ranking Associate First Leutenant. His father, liked the traditional Indonesian art of shadow puppets. Because of this, Soektojo named after his only son with names meaning of polite, full of morality, heroic and always victorious in battle.

Establishment of Democratic Party

Besides in military and government duties, SBY realize that working for political party is another form of devotion to people. Working for political party can not only depend on privilege that is given by power. He was demanded to fight through political party.
